Workshops

Holiday courses and workshops are offered (as needed) through the autumn, spring and summer school holidays. These are led by da teachers, guest artists or visiting dance companies such as Jonzi de Productions and Rambert Dance Company. Whether it is for fun or fitness or to develop technique and further skills, there is something for everyone.

Exam workshops - RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern Theatre and Tap

Intensive examination syllabus courses focusing on examination assessment criteria.

GCSE Dance

Taking a student from Year 9 upwards who would like to achieve a GCSE in dance. Key components: contemporary technique, choreography, performance skills, appreciation and dance history.

Holiday workshops

These workshops are designed to give the students the opportunity to develop their skills and to experience new and vibrant dance styles. The experience is meant to be fun and enjoyable, allowing students to make friends and on the final day to perform their piece to parents and guardians.

Children’s Ballet workshops

A ballet-based workshop using stories from some of the world’s favourite ballets, including “The Nutcracker” and “Copellia”. Children learn the stories, select a scene and have the opportunity to be a part of the creative process which allows them to better their skills as performers.

Musical Theatre

An energetic and fun filled workshop introducing the students to sections of choreography and music taken from famous West End musicals. The workshop includes acting, singing and dancing tuition.

A Day of Dance

A day of dance is designed to offer the students the experience of ¾ different dance styles. The students come away with the knowledge of not only what links these styles together but also the differences between them.

Theatre Trips

Sometimes theatre trips follow on from workshops. Other times the trips are just to enjoy and appreciate professionally performed dance. To date these include:

The Nutcracker at the Stag Theatre

Flawless at the Assembly Halls Tunbridge Wells

Dirty Dancing – London West End

Rambert at Sadlers Wells

Day of Dance – Royal Festival Hall (directed by Temujin Gill in the style of lindy hop)

Dance in the Community/local schools

"da" offers workshops, support for GCSE dance students and regular dance classes within the dance curriculum supporting key stage work and learning. Sevenoaks Primary School and Walthamstow Hall Senior School partake in such schemes.
