About the Teachers
Margie:
Margie graduated from The Laban Centre For Movement and Dance in 1985 after which she danced professionally with a contemporary dance company both in the UK and in Hong Kong. She taught at the well-known Jean M Wong School of Ballet and returned to the UK in 1988. After completing a P.G.C.E. in dance education, Margie went on to teach dance up to G.C.S.E level at Camden School for Girls in London. After moving to Greece Margie went on to study for her RAD Ballet Teaching Qualification as well as achieving the I.S.T.D Modern Theatre Dance Certificate. In Greece, Margie helped run a successful dance theatre school.
On her return to England she took up freelance work which included the Italia Conti Associate Theatre School in London. Margie has worked in several local primary and secondary schools in the Sevenoaks area assisting with choreography for school shows and was involved with "Chance to Dance" in Sevenoaks. She enjoys teaching children of all ages and has four children of her own!
Jodie:
Jodie trained at the Deborah Capon College where she was one of the first students to gain the new CDE teaching qualification in ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern. Jodie has been teaching for four years now and has taught in many places including Centre Stage School of the Arts in Singapore. She is also a keen performer. Jodie enjoys choreographing and performing with street dance crews Vivid Mastermindz and XT32, which has given her the opportunity to work on a music video and also perform with comedian Eddi Kadi in London's Mermaid Theatre.
Ricia:
Ricia graduated from Middlesex University in 2006 with a Dance Studies Degree. Having studied musical theatre, ISTD tap, modern and ballet for many years, gaining exams in Cecchetti ballet, Ricia has gained vast experience in both the performing and teaching world. Ricia has choreographed and taught for many different companies and schools. Ricia teaches classes throughout the South East and specializes in contemporary dance styles, delivering exciting and innovative classes and workshops. She is a qualified YMCA Aerobic and Ballet fitness instructor.
Nicola:
Nicola has been dancing since the age of 4 and her love for dance has grown from a hobby into a career. As a child, Nicola was accepted into The Royal Ballet School and has danced with The National Youth Ballet and The European Ballet. At the age of 16, after being a Junior Associate with The Royal Ballet, The Hammond School and The Urdang Academy, she was given a full scholarship to attend The Hammond School, Chester. She graduated from The Hammond in July 2002 with a National Diploma in Musical Theatre and her ISTD modern and tap associates.
Since then Nicola has enjoyed balancing teaching with dancing. Dance credits including: ‘Peter Pan’ Blackpool Opera House, Pontins Brean Sands, ‘Swinging Sixties’ Birmingham NEC, inauguration cast ‘Costa Magica’ (2 seasons), ‘Spirit of Christmas’, Dance captain/Production Manager ‘Costa Fortuna’ (2 seasons). She is now teaching full-time.
